Rainbow Military Dependents' Village

Rainbow Village (彩虹眷村) is a military dependents' village in Nantun District, Taichung City. It is built as a provisional settlement for Nationalist soldiers but eventually become permanent housing. This village is transformed by an 86-year old veteran named Huang Yung-fu. He painted the walls with colorful drawings such as aircrafts, pandas, birds.

Although this place is quite difficult to find, it has been a tourist destination since it has become well-known online. The colorful and vibrant surrounding attracted a lot of people, not only foreigners but locals as well, to come and visit Rainbow Village.

In front of the village is a playground. Indeed, this place is not only a village of artwork but a place to feel young again.
